Marlene was predeceased by her husband, Herb Prendergast; her parents, Charlie and Dora Schneider; sisters, Delores Anderson and Nancy Wright; brothers-in-law, Al Anderson and Art Engel; nephew, Allen Anderson; and niece, Nacy Engel.

Marlene was born in Calgary as the fourth daughter of Charlie and Dora Schneider. Marlene attended Canadian Nazarene College in Red Deer, Alberta, then took practical nurse training in Calgary.  She met her husband, Herb Prendergast, at a church youth group in Calgary.  They married on March 16,1957.  Herb and Marlene started their family in Calgary, welcoming sons, Steve and Ken.  They moved to Red Deer, where the family's girls, Joan and Jan, were born.  They lived in Red Deer, Sylvan Lake, and Harmattan, retiring to Sundre. Herb and Marlene celebrated 62 years of happy marriage before Herb passed away in the summer of 2019.  Marlene and Herb had moved to Sundre’s Senior Support Living Lodge early that year.  One of the friends they met was Lance Dichrow.  Lance became a kind and supportive companion after Herb’s passing and eventually became Marlene’s sweetheart.

The family is grateful to Dr. Chapman and Sundre’s Senior Supportive Living staff for the care and compassion they shared with Marlene.

A celebration of Life will take place at Bergen Missionary Church Fellowship, 5440 Township Rd 320, Sundre, Alberta on Saturday, April 6th, at 11:00 a.m. Messages of condolence for the family may be left at www.prairierosefunerals.ca
