VINT
Marion Blanche Vint (nee DeBow) of Lantzville, BC passed away July 5, 2010 at the age of 81. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William Brian Vint; children, Brenda Sutherland and Leanne Taylor (Alexander) and grandchildren Andrew (Maggie) and Russell Sutherland, Leah and Cole Taylor. Marion was born to Marion and Erb DeBow June 12, 1929 in Carstairs Alberta where she remained until completing Normal school in Calgary Alberta. Showing her adventurous side, Marion spent one year teaching school in Costa Rica in the early 1950's. She then settled in Victoria BC where she met and married Brian. Brian and Marion moved to Nanaimo in 1957 where they raised their family until moving to Lantzville for their retirement years. Marion made a difference to the community and to the lives she touched with her consistent progressive and positive thinking both as an elementary school teacher and principal, as well as through her long and dedicated involvement with Brechin United Church. Marion set friends and family as a priority in her life and those who knew her are aware of her ability to genuinely "be there" and care so deeply for all she touched. Marion was athletic and possessed an energy level that knew no boundaries. She was active in round dancing, golf, bridge club and downhill snow skiing. In fact, family had the pleasure of trying to keep up with her on the slopes of Mount Washington February 2010. While passionate and focused in life, she maintained a graciousness and humility that was most palpable.
Marion is irreplaceable and will be truly missed. Memorial service will be held at Brechin United Church July 10, 2010 at 3:30 pm with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, Palliative Care unit.
