LASHMORE
Mrs. Lila Joyce Lashmore, beloved wife of Wayne Lashmore of Water Valley, passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on December 30, 2009 at the age of 63 years. Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Wayne, of 43 years, her daughter Shannon and sons, Scott (Pamela) and Kris (Dacia). Her memory will be further cherished by her six grandchildren: Cole, Connor, Lane, Drew, Kaidence and Abbie. Lila is survived by her mother Ethel May of Olds, as well as by four brothers and four sisters and a large extended family. She was predeceased by her father, Wilson Boyd May and sister, June Price. Lila was born to parents Wilson Boyd and Ethel May on September 4, 1946 at the General Hospital in Calgary. She attended school in Cremona and grew up in the area. She was active in sports and enjoyed baseball and curling. She loved bingo and played every chance she could. She trained to become a stenographer and worked in the secretarial field for a few years. Although they attended the same school, it was later in life when she and Wayne Lashmore became a couple. They married in 1966. As a young couple, they moved around the first few years before they settled back in Cremona. Lila stayed home to raise her children. She worked off and on as a cook. During this time, she made some great lifelong friends. In the late 80s, Lila and Wayne bought a farm west of Water Valley. As a couple they had the opportunity to renew their vows before Lila started to get ill. She battled for many years with diabetes and the complications it caused. Lila was an avid sports fan, loyal to the last moments of every game for every moment of her life. Family was everything to her, she enjoyed planning family reunions and all the holidays. She truly enjoyed having her family around and ensured that everyone was thought of on their birthday and all special occasions. She was much loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed. At Lilaís request her family will hold a private family gathering.
