GPS unit and DVD players stolen in Cremona
Didsbury RCMP are investigating a report of articles stolen from a blue Dodge Caravan that was parked on First Street in Cremona. The incident occurred between 10:30 p.m. Jan. 29 and 5:00 p.m. Jan. 30. “Access was gained to the locked vehicle that was parked behind a residence,” said Sgt. Jeff Jacobson of the Didsbury RCMP. “Articles stolen include a GPS unit, two DVD players and DVD.”
Wallet stolen in Carstairs
Police are looking for a suspect who entered an unlocked garage in the 600 block of 10 Avenue in Carstairs. The incident occurred sometime between 6:00 p.m. on Jan. 29 and 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 30.
“The individual stole items from the vehicle that was parked inside the garage,” said Sgt. Jacobson. “The vehicle was not locked at the time.”
Items stolen were: a wallet, change from the ashtray and a dog leash.
Theft at Barley’s Pub
On January 30 at 11:45 a.m., a male entered Barley’s Pub in Carstairs and was briefly playing the VLTs. He was described as 6 - 2, with a dark moustache and wearing a red sweater and black jacket.
“When the pub employee went to the back, the individual went to the till and stole all the cash flow,” said Sgt. Jacobson. “A significant amount of money was stolen.”
The man was seen departing on foot.
“Patrol was made to the area but we were not able to apprehend this individual,” added Sgt. Jacobson.
“Part of business security is that employees should never leave cash registers unattended,” he said. “It becomes a crime of opportunity.”
Police continue to investigate and are following up on some leads.
Impaired operation of a vehicle
On January 28 at 2:20 a.m., police apprehended a 27-year-old male from Cremona who was found operating a motor vehicle while impaired. The incident occurred on Railway Avenue where officers observed him. Police said breath samples were taken and the individual was found to be over the legal limit. Charges are pending.
