Robberies in Crossfield and Carstairs
Airdrie RCMP continue to investigate a robbery that occurred around 3:45 p.m. on January 18 at the Alberta Treasury Branch in Crossfield.
“A lone male entered the ATB and demanded money,” said Sgt. Patricia Neely with the Airdrie RCMP. “He indicated that he had a gun, although one was not produced.”
An undisclosed amount of money was given to the male, who then fled on foot. No one was injured.
“The male is described as Caucasian, with shoulder-length brown hair,” said Sgt. Neely. “He is approximately 5 - 10 tall, with a medium build. He was wearing sunglasses, jeans and a down-filled puffy jacket.”
If a member of the public has any information on this crime, please call the Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-262-TIPS.
An undisclosed number of postage stamps and coin sets were stolen from the Carstairs post office after thieves gained entry to the building just after 4 a.m. on January 19.
“Post offices are likely targets for break and enters,” said Sgt. Jeff Jacobson, detachment commander with the Didsbury RCMP.
The culprits gained access through the security curtain.
“The forensic identification team from Red Deer was on hand later that morning to investigate,” Jacobson added. “At this time, there is no information to suggest that the break-and-enter incident at Zebedeez Hair is related to this one.”
Police are continuing their investigation. If anyone has information on this incident, please contact the Didsbury RCMP at 403-335-3382.
